Together with other local industries, the LYB Morris Plant celebrated Manufacturing Month by attending
three separate events, including Joliet Junior College’s Manufacturing Day. The Event was attended by
over 800 students from various local high schools. LyondellBasell employees spoke with students to
discuss career opportunities and how their backgrounds placed them in their current roles in
manufacturing.
In addition, LyondellBasell employees came together to support Coal City High School’s Career Day.
The Women’s Network, a group championing females in manufacturing, supported the Coal City Career
Fair.
Understanding the value of exposing grade school students to careers in manufacturing, employees
attended the 8th Grade Career Fair, an annual event focused on 8thgrade students having proactive
conversations with local leaders in the community.
“We attend these events each year with the focus of having positive interactions with students,” said
Katelyn Ackerman, LyondellBasell Engineer. “You never know when that one conversation might spark
interest from a student to pursue a career in manufacturing, and potentially change the course of their
career path for the better.”
