The LyondellBasell (LYB) Geleen site transforms used plastic into new, high-quality raw materials through mechanical recycling technology. Our unique and advanced approach improves the quality and applicability of recycled plastic. By continuing to innovate, we are committed to a world without plastic waste.

At LYB we have accelerated our commitment to sustainability by acquiring The Mepol Group. With 40+ years of expertise in mechanical recycling and compounding of high-performance materials from recycled content, this acquisition expands our market reach in Poland and Italy, strengthening our dedication to reducing plastic waste and promoting a circular economy. 

At our new Merseburg (production) and Frankfurt (R&D) sites, we use a unique solvent-based recycling technology for low-density polyethylene (LDPE). This technology complements our mechanical recycling technology, as well as our proprietary chemical recycling technology MoReTec. It will expand our portfolio of renewable and circular solutions.
